Moved to WordPress.com

Okay, that's it.

I am officially moving my blog over to www.josiahmeyer.wordpress.com

I know that it is bad form to move a blog, since people get used to you being in one place, and it is annoying to switch links over. I apologize for the inconvenience.

It's just that "freewebs" is just that - a free web-host provider. If I wanted a personal web-site, and had all sorts of things to put on there, this would be the site for me - it's free, and it does a lot of things tollerably well.

My problem, however, is that I do NOT want a generic site - I want a BLOG site. And I must say - the blog portion of freewebs is QUITE sub-par. Wordpress seems much better, however, so I will give that a try.

Sorry again for the inconvenience! For now, this site will still be running. Until I get stuff transferred over, there will be lots of links back to it, so that people can still access my different folders. Hopefully in the future I will be over there for good!

Here is the link to transfer over: www.josiahmeyer.wordpress.com

Women in Leadership Resources

To my class-mates: here are the resources which I promised.

The two classic resources on women in leadership are: (on the complimentarian side) The Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood www.cbmw.com; and Christians for Biblical Equality www.cbeinternational.org; also, you can find a bibliography to the subject http://www.apologeticsindex.org/cpoint1-6.html.

The best resource which I can offer is that of two sermons by Bruxy Cavey. Bruxy offers the only presentation of egalitarianism which I have found plausible:

download his opinions in the sermon "can women lead the church" here http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3?http://media.themeetinghouse.ca/podcast/audio/2005-10-23-461-sermon.mp3 .

To get more stuff from him, you can subscribe to his podcast at http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=102719807 . I would recommend him to any Christian - and his stuff makes great bible study material too!

Well, that's it for now. I hope to start talking more about women in leadership in about two weeks, when I get some other things out of the way.

God bless!

Eschatology or Scatology?

On a lighter note...

I came upon this definition while in the throes of yet another research paper. I'm not sure if this is genuinely funny, or if this is one of those "you had to be there" moments (a.k.a. you have to stumble on this definition while stressed, tired, overly preocupied by very "serious" issues, and jacked up on caffein), but I will share it with you anyways...

eschatology [esk‐ă‐tol‐ŏji], the theological study or artistic representation of the end of the world. Eschatological writing is found chiefly in religious allegories, but also in some science fiction. The term should not be confused with scatology, which is the scientific or humorous consideration of excrement. See also anagogical, apocalyptic.

Anyways, this defintion cracked me up - these are two words you definitely don't want to confuse in a term-paper!! lol...

(Ways not to use confuse "scatology" with "eschatology")

The "Left Behind" series has made quite a stink in the scatalogical community...

Amids the throes of the curse, we groan, toil and push for that day of final scatalogical release...

Distaining the passing pleasures here on earth, let us look upwards to our heavenly home - that great scatalogical mansion in the sky!

Okay, I could go on, but I really need to get back to my paper - contributions anyone...?
