Just over a month ago, your negotiating team held an all-NEEPO meeting to inform our coalition members about the progress being made to secure a lease agreement with one of several drillers. Hopes were high as the Barnett Shale drew new competition from entrants like Vantage Energy (SW Ft. Worth) and Titan Operating (CAMRA; NAN; etc.).  At the end of September we saw the BC-MRC (Bedford Colleyville-Mineral Rights Coalition), just west of NEEPO, reach an outstanding arrangement with Titan! Then came September 29th; day 1 of a 10 day free fall in the financial world, the worst such period in the history of the market. News in the Star-Telegram has recently pointed out that many drillers have cut back or stopped exploration because of falling gas prices and a general uneasiness about the world economy and availability of advanced loans!
