Back Again

Being actors we tend to get lost at set and can't get back to our blogs and updates but here we go to try and catch up:

1) Mark Millar and his Superman Epic

Ummm no. I know nobody who wants to see a movie that ends with Superman being the last person on Earth and the yellow sun turns red and goes Supernova and a powerless Superman is no more. What would be his next epic? A group suicide? What a major downer to a classic and timeless hero...
Listen Mark- your Superman Red Son is a great book, write this idea as a book. The fans will eat it up...but as a re-launch? Why do we need to go back 1000 years to Krypton? We all want a Superman movie the caliber of Dark Knight but crossed with Iron Man and Hulk.
a) We need Lois Lane and the love story somewhere along the lines of Pepper and Tony in Iron Man. They can't be together because he is Superman but you can feel the pull between them or go the route of our script idea and have her be the only person in Metropolis who knows and she is engaged to Clark Kent (see their relationship in Superman Doomsday)

b) we need a fight that surpasses the fight between Hulk and Abomination period. No less will be accepted. Right now all Superman fans have is Superman II and our imaginations but with today's technology we need to see Superman really knock the shit out of a villain(who can take it)

c) Superman has to look like a man, sorry Brandon Routh. You just look too smooth in the face, too young. All the Routh fans always want to use his mid west roots as his reasoning for being Superman on screen...that boy does not look like he grew up baling hay and working long hours on a farm,he does not look like he knows how to fix a tractor or even drive a tractor. Mid west farmboys even at 21 look alot more seasoned and mature than Routh. Growing up in Iowas and working in a bowling alley isn't Clark Kent,Routh has obviously always ben good looking and from when he was young he was probably smiling for cameras, modeling and being groomed to become an actor/model. Lets face it-if you grow up in a small mid west town then you probably have been planning to leave since you were 8 but really what acting coach resides in Iowa training people to take Hollywood by storm? He grew up a model and wanting to do anything to get out of town but train in acting he did not. Work on a farm everyday with his dad for long hours he did not.

Next News Item:

2) Nolan speaks

Alright we have heard him speak, his Batman is in Nolan-verse not DCU. Move on WB!! Get your projects rolling...we here at this site knew Nolan's thoughts about Batman and DCU years ago so why this is catching WB by surprise now? we have no idea. You have been kicked in the crotch Warners..pick yourself up and move on. If Nolan will do Batman III then let him, make another billion dollars and then broom him to the side because if you want a universe like Marvel then you will need Batman and Superman to co-exist.
Which is why we made suggestions on this site as to why you should launch the universe without Batman until part III is over. We have outlines and synopsis for Justice League movies that obviously can be reformatted to include Batman...BUT we knew Nolan was going to pull this shit so if you go back and read our other sections you'll see we called i and mae the proper suggestions. WB cannot afford to sit and wait until Batman III is in theaters to go ahead with a DCU movie universe- it will be too late and pointless.

Third news item:

3) Avengers rolls forward a little more

Favreau will be an executive producer(basically another sets of eyes for the 'director' of this mega movie. Downey Jr will be Iron Man and Cheadle will be War Machine in Iron Man II and Avengers.
How this news doesn't slap WB in the face we have no clue...WB's next move should be getting a director and cast for Green Lantern..include some reference or cameo to a bigger universe and go- roll cameras. GL can be better than Iron Man if they want it to be and more interesting. Definitely as a superhero GL is visually more appealing hands down. After GL get that Superman flying again because he will be the glue to the Justice League...from there get Flash moving again(sorry Wonder Woman we feel you should have a movie after JL hits theaters, only because WB has been slow moving. When we launched this site we suggested before JL but right after Man of Steel)

Well thats all for today- we'll be back later this weekend with more stuff.

This is taking long!

Come on WB...waiting for Nolan to make a decision on scheduling of other projects is one thing but the least the fans can get before Christmas is the simple answers:

Is it a total REBOOT of Superman?
Is the entire cast gone?
Is it a new director?
Are WB going to just up and forget 'Returns' like it didn't happen?

Honestly it boggles the mind how WB can be in part responsible for the Harry Potter movies but a decent Superman,Flash,Wonder Woman and Green Lantern seem to be the 'kryptonite' to that Studio. Nolan is one director- but he is one of a few capable of getting WB and the fans a good if not great adaptation of various DC heroes unless of course you hire the fool we usually argue with who insists that the DC Universe NEVER see bigscreen treatment beyond Superman and Batman. Which in itself won't ever be an idea followed by a Studio in possession of some very interesting characters. WB: get with it soon while the iron is hot.

The Debate of Superman

We guys here have been captivated by a back and forth debate between us and a poster named *blank*. Now since the debate is one sided- mainly because when we ask logical questions we get called useless, dummies or old fashioned...we'll just present a case examination.

Now here is the launch point: the idea is bringing Superman into the 21st century, modernize and update him...very valid and reasonable. We countered with the obvious updates: special f/x,choice of villain, the design of the suit, eliminating the clumsy Clark Kent and a story a little more plausible than real estate schemes and ever grow Kryptonite. Now for that response we got insulted and told that we need to open the box and stop living in 1938.

Next we got the idea this guy proposed: Suppose we have known all along that Clark is Superman? an exploration of Superman from the point of view that we just keep that a secret and eliminate the secret identity element of his mythos.
Interesting thought so we asked a logical question as well did others: What prevents villains from harming his family and friends? If we all know then its a valid question right?
No- we got a riddle and we were called dummies. To stop living in 1978(so we moved up a little huh?)
Next we got a little poem-esque passage of an omnipotent Superman who basically polices the entire planet, he is everywhere all the time and noone dares to do harm or evil-'not on his watch' to which we and others simply stated: Superman would never task himself with that level of authority. He isn't of earth so why would we stand idly by while an alien tells us what we can and can't do?
Now with that we were insulted again.
Obviously there are no answers to our questions from his side so we'll list our arguements in this debate for all the believers of '21st century' Superman.
1.Earth 2008: internet,cell phones,porn,child abuse,genocide,racism,global warming,terrorism,camera phones- I am just listing the elements of the 21st century...
How does an omnipotent Superman have no clue that we know who he is but don't tell him?
Omnipotent means all knowing last I checked.
What prevents a villain from hurting Ma Kent or Lois Lane?
If we are modernizing him then why would our gov't and all gov'ts stand idly by while an alien polices us? human emotion alone dictates that this planet would try to take him out. You think North Korea is just going to lay back while an alien tells them how to operate? Al Quaida? Russia?
If we are really modernizing him that way then is it not disrespectful to the victims of actual tragedy?
And what about trickle down effect? It seems if he is truly policing the world and really nobody stands against him, evil and wrong doing is abolished...So:
a) Why have world leaders?
b) Why have police and military? they'll be unemployed I guess
c) What happens to basic human emotion? In this scenario someone would spill the beans on the 'secret' we keep just out of spite.
d) Why would we live under rule of one man?
e) Why would he want to serve that position?

With all good there is evil- they co-exist and cannot survive without each other so where is the evil side of this equation? is it within Superman? is he suffering from paranoid schizophrenia as a result of living a double life?
If you don't truly examine the real world reaction to an alien living among us then you aren't using earth or the 21st century as anything but a calendar date.
This frames a Utopic society living under a King but does this king have lieutenents? One man 24 hours a day covering the entire planet making sure that evil doesn't rear its ugly head? Is that physically possible? shouldn't a window of opportunity arise at some point to eliminate the King?
Is that a modern world? I have a president, local law enforcement etc..foreign countries,militaries- that is my modern world as is everyone's. Bringing Superman into the 21st century and updating a 'classic' hero is valid desire but not only do you run the risk of eliminating vital ingredients of his mythos you run the risk of 'creating' a version of the 21st century and not really using the existing one.
