To travel and study abroad with a sorority sister is surreal. I had the chance of a life time to study abroad with not only one sister, but two. Delta Zeta’s are always going above and beyond in school. We three ladies now have leadership from Delta Zeta and life experience through study abroad together. I feel so blessed to have been able to travel to London, England with these sisters. We also had another sister in England who was on a separate study abroad trip. This was Emily Morgan! We went to the Tower of London and happened to run into her there! That was amazing to randomly run into a sorority sister in London!

I would have never imagined stepping foot in my first over seas country with two sorority sisters. Together we saw Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Bridge, and other breathtaking sights. Through our class we went to Stonehenge and the City of Bath. These are life dreams that I have done with my sisters!

We also had the chance of a life time to go to PARIS together! This is where I step back and think how lucky I am to have gone to England and France with my best friend/sister. We saw the Eiffel Tower, The Louver, Notre Dame, and explored the wonderful city! The whole time I had to keep reminding myself that I was REALLY in France with my sister. We become best friends through Delta Zeta and she will be my bridesmaid one day. I wouldn’t have gone without her. She and I were on our way to the Tower of London when we stopped to take a picture. When finished taking the pictures we noticed our class was gone! There is no one else I would have rather been lost with. We eventually found the group, but that was after much panicking. Another memorable time was when we listened to Big Ben strike midnight on New Years Eve. As I hugged her at midnight, I have never been happier with my choice to be a DZ.

Date party was a BLAST!

The theme was Sweet Home Delta Zeta, and everyone looked great in their country/ western outfits. My boyfriend Austin and I wore costumes that looked like we were riding animals. I was a sheriff riding a horse, and he was a rodeo man riding a bull! It was a really special night because it was my little's first date party, and my big's (Sara Luse) last date party. Everyone had a great time dancing the night away.

Of course we dance to Abba's Dancing Queen, which we dance to at date partys, formals, summer orientations, and always at weddings! Towards the middle of the night awards were handed out that the chapter had previously voted on. My best friend and I won Partner's in Crime! We ran up to get our award while hootin' and hollerin' and shooting off our toy guns. Our president, Elizabeth Coleman was voted Most Unforegttable. Chris Stapeleton, a fraternity man on campus won 2nd place as Mr. Pink and Green for his dedication to our chapter during our 5th powderpuff championship. There were many other fun awards given out throughout the night that recognized our sisters individuality.

This was definitely one of my favorite date party's, but it's hard to choose because I love them all! It was a great way to kick back and relax with all my sisters after all our hard work and accomplishments so far this year. I can't wait until formal in the spring because they get better and better each year! Thanks for a great date party Christine, Lindsey, Emma, and everyone else who helped plan the night

The Painted Turtle Camp -Megan Caddell

My name is Megan and this year will be my fourth year in Delta Zeta!

This summer, I traveled out to California again for the third time to volunteer at our national philanthropy, The Painted Turtle camp! This camp is for kids with different life-threatening illnesses and conditions and is my favorite place in the world. For the 3rd year in a row, I volunteered for the Liver Transplant session and the Kidney Transplant and Disease Session. It was amazing to see some of the same kids from the very first year I was there, and also from last year. What was even more amazing was the fact that they remembered who I was!

It definitely brought tears to my eyes, because I knew then that I had done something for them, even if only a little bit. This camp truly changes their lives by allowing them to do things that they can't do at home and giving them the opportunity to form such strong bonds with friends that can't be found anywhere else. After my first year volunteering, I didn't think it could be any more rewarding! However, each summer that I return, the magic of camp escalates and the rewarding/happy feeling inside me grows stronger. I just can't get enough of it! I hope to work there the entire summer eventually.

Until then, I will definitely continue to volunteer each summer and encourage as many of my sisters and friends to go as well! It is worth any cost to travel out there. My life is changed as well, and I will forever continue to hold my memories of camp very close to my heart. I wish everyone knew what it was like to be there, because explaining it in words is just not the same at all! Please let me know if you are interested in going. You can check out the camp website at www.thepaintedturtle.org/turtle/
