Kisumu Project, Inc.

As a volunteer of Kisumu Project, Inc. I believe that for change to be made in the world, education
must be at the forefront. That is the ultimate goal in our "Adopt a School,"
"Build a Water Well," "Build a School for Orphans," and
"Communications" Projects. We not only hope to provide/collect
donations that will make an impact on the lives of the people of Eastern Africa, but we hope to carry the message that there is a beauty
to share, and there are needs that should be met.

As an individual, I have been an educator in the United States for
18 years, and I am sad to admit that World Issues were not presented as
an area of importance in our curriculums. Despite my work as a teacher and environmental education in
Central America, it took my friend, Kenneth, to demonstrate how I
could impact the life of someone on the other side of the world! It is
very sad to admit, but it is exciting to be enlightened by the
prospects.

Fortunately, as a Kisumu Project, Inc. volunteer I am able to
contribute to causes that are AS IMPORTANT AS my work as an educator.
It is my hope that through my work with Kisumu Project, Inc., Kenneth (our Director), and all of our other volunteers, I will be able
to help make an impact that will reach far into the lives of those who
are not born with the same opportunities I was. As I tell my own
children, we did not choose our birth parents, nor did we choose where
we were born. Someone else did that for us. We have to move forward from the point where we are standing.

Whether we are idle or "busy bees," each and every one of us WILL make an IMPACT on the world. From pollution, water and electricity
usage, food consumption, or anything else, we cannot deny that we have
an impact (and it is not as small as we hope). By just visiting a waste
water treatment plant you will clearly understand the real impact of
human beings!

I want my "mark" or "impact" to be one that centers around the
helping of others and indicate that my center is around what Christ would do. That is why I have chosen to assist Kisumu Project,
Inc. volunteers in their endeavors in Kenya.
