Radio Caroline is broadcasting live from the radio ship Ross Revenge this August Bank Holiday weekend.

Our special programmes start at 6pm on Friday, August 28th and run through until midnight on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31st.

The team on board for the weekend is made up almost entirely from staff who served on two of our radio ships, the Mi Amigo in the 1970’s and the Ross herself in the 1980's. Three members of the restoration crew will also be taking part. You can see the full programme schedule here.

"Now! That’s What I Call...Radio Caroline" is the theme for the weekend with music that you've told us encompasses the spirit of Caroline, the tracks that make you think of us every time you hear them. We've come up with our own suggestions too and guarantee that you'll hear some excellent music across the weekend.

In addition to our usual outlets on line and on SKY 0199, if you live in south Essex or north Kent you will also be able to hear Radio Caroline on 531 kHz AM over the weekend. Details

James Whale Fired

Controversial radio presenter James Whale has been from TalkSport, after he breached broadcasting rules regarding impartiality.

A number fo complaints were received by Ofcom after he made comments during a show on March 20, in which he urged listeners to vote for Boris Johnson to be London's new mayor.

A statement issued by TalkSport said: "TalkSport presenter James Whale's contract with the radio station has been terminated after a breach of the Ofcom Broadcasting Code regarding due impartiality.

"It's very unfortunate. We have investigated the matter and after serious consideration, the station reached the decision that there was a clear breach of the rules and that we had no choice but to terminate his contract.

"James Whale is guilty of a gross error of judgment which we found to be totally unacceptable.

"Talksport has acknowledged the seriousness of the complaints received, does not excuse the content of the broadcast and has told Ofcom that it has taken steps to prevent this happening again.

"The matter is still under investigation by Ofcom so it would be inappropriate to comment any further on the details of the complaints."

To mark Liberation Day in the Netherlands (Monday 5 May), Dutch public broadcaster Radio 5 will broadcast as Radio Oranje between 0500 and 1700 UTC on 747 kHz. Radio Oranje was the Dutch station that broadcast from London during the Nazi occupation of the country.
Radio 5, which is aimed at the 50-plussers, is asking its listeners for their memories and interesting stories from 5 May 1945 to be included in the programme. Music will be played from original 78 rpm records by artists such as Glenn Miller, Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters, as well as Dutch artists popular at the time.
