For now I guess it is safe to say I have abandoned the notion of my own independent webstore. While I went to all the expense and effort of purchasing the software and laboriously setting everything up, I have been so busy with my every day life that I haven't been able to move forward with it. At this juncture I am trying to decide just what I want to do with it or if I want to just let it go for now. Hum...

To be honest, I have been giving serious consideration to liquidating my store inventory in an effort to eventually shut everything down. I do so enjoy e-commercing but with sales slow, life ramping up and a growing need for the space now taken up by inventory storage, it is seeming like a more real possibility.

But, not for a while so please, please, please continue to shop at HidyAphrodite's Closet for great bargains every day! In fact, the better my sales the less likely I am to fold up shop. I have some rental property and in July found myself faced with 3 vacancies. One of the apartments had been so completely trashed that my daughter and I worked like crazy for the rest of the summer rehabing the place, inside and out. There were other "emergencies" and life events that have diverted my attention but with the temperatures cooling down and the garden work coming to a halt I will be able to get back to working on my little store very soon. The site has been created but I need to get the inventory listed, a laborious task at best.

The holiday sale at the Bargain Basement ended on the 15th and I also closed the Studio on Cafepress to save those fees.    

I have, however, opened a new store called BLACK CAT BOUTIQUE  hosted on Blujay. I was inspired to open BCB while working through my grief over the tragic loss of my beloved black kitty cat, Mr. Smudge, on December 7. I opened BCB in his spirit and it is a fun and eclectic little store.

I'll not have any more live plants available for sale until spring except for the Aloe Vera kits.

I set out blindly but persistently on an odessey that has led me here and while not making much money, I have learned a great deal of valuable information about building a website, blogging, html code, and other available buying and selling venues outside of eBay. Given the fact that fees were beginning to outstrip already meager profits and eBay was no longer including small store listings in general searches to the buying public I surmised I didn't have a lot to lose. It was a leap of faith and I've been discouraged many times but onward through the fog I have traveled.

Slowly but surely things have come back together and I'm selling again and my customers are pleased. I have faith that old customers will return, new ones will find and appreciate me and HidyAphrodite's Closet can get back to the business of selling real good stuff at great budget-friendly prices ... and I can get back to timely paying my bills. Yes, that is right. I sell stuff to pay my bills. I am a medically retired lady who relies solely on my very fixed and totally inadequate disability retirement income. I am just trying to keep my head above water and take care of my responsibilities while at the same time clearing my drawers, closets and other nooks and crannies around here of great stuff just languishing about unused and unneeded .

Now  it 'tis the season and time for the ramping up of buying and selling everywhere. If you are like me you don't have much or any "extra" money available for holiday needs but your Christmas list continues to grow year to year. Consider shopping resale for some of those items on your Christmas giving list as a way to give better for less and always check with me first because you never know what you'll find at HidyAphrodite's Closet!

HidyAphrodite's Closet was born late one chilly night in January 2005 after some serious fretting over my financial condition. What in the world was I going to do? Monthly outgo had passed up monthly income, my 12-year-old automobile was barely limping along and the house needed repair work. 

You see, I had to retire early in 1998 to wage a full-time war against the Big "C" and am in that "fixed income" predicament.
